Welcome to Smith's Kennel beside the Pond. Here is some information I want you to know about us. First and foremost I am a hunter. I have hunted birds for 45 years all across the United States. I have had many of the pointing breeds throughout my years but have decided on the Epagneul Breton to take me to the end of my journey. It has taken 15 years to develop my line at the level that it is today. My goal is to breed quality, not quantity, normally having only one or two litters per year. My dogs come from some of the best bloodlines in the world. The dogs are excellent hunters and have bonded with me; almost a one-man-dog as they hunt close and always want to hunt in front of me. I do not have any dogs that hunt for themselves or so far away you need a locater collar to find them.
Some folks think I specialize in "show dogs" because of the number of confirmation titles my breed stock hold. The truth of the matter is my animals look good, meet the standards of the breed, are trained to perform well in the show ring and that makes a difference in who wins "Best of Breed" in most conformation shows in the United States. Dogs that are excellent in conformation hold up well in their performance in the field, day in day out.
